Philosophy & Vision

I am passionate about supporting clients to develop emotional growth and helping them to create secure, thriving relationships. I work with individuals and couples with relationship difficulties, to develop healthy patterns and create lasting bonds with each other, by addressing the core issues, rather than managing symptoms or working on practical strategies. I am a trained Emotionally Focused Therapist and predominantly use this process-oriented approach rooted in Attachment theory to help clients develop long-term growth and secure relationships. I am also a bi-lingual counsellor, providing counselling in both English and Tamil.

Background

I am a registered and experienced counsellor. I have been a counsellor for 9 years, working for various organisations before I started my private practice 4 years ago.
My past work experiences include working as a child and adolescent counsellor, school counsellor, and providing couple and family therapy. I've worked with diverse demographics of people including refugees and asylum seekers, families going through separation/divorce, and clients from CALD and LGBTQI backgrounds. I also have experience working with clients with complex issues such as domestic violence, addictions, etc.
These professional experiences enable me to provide culturally sensitive services, where I provide a non-judgemental, safe space to my clients.

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, Online Video Consultations
  • My services include Individual counselling, couple therapy, pre-marriage counselling and adolescent counselling.
I help couples who present with relationship issues such as communication issues, lack of intimacy, infidelity, emotional dysregulation and conflict. I also see individuals presenting with anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem, fear of commitment, abandonment or rejection in relationships, childhood trauma, past relationship trauma or relationship loss and difficulty regulating emotions.

    Quality Provision

I am a registered clinical counsellor with PACFA. I continue to attend ongoing professional development, and regular clinical supervision with a certified supervisor, to ensure my practice is ethical and within the boundaries of my professional competence.

    Therapy Approach

I believe in supporting clients to gain long-term growth and healing by using a client-centred approach that addresses the root cause of their distress.

Research shows that those who have had a secure childhood characterised by a supportive and nurturing environment tend to have improved emotional well-being and the ability to form secure relationships in their adult lives. I predominantly use the evidence-based approach of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which is rooted in attachment theory, and is shown to improve emotional security within an individual and in relationships. I have completed advanced training in this approach and continue to receive supervision from a certified EFT supervisor.

    • My business is called Lotus Bloom Counselling, because I believe every human being has the inherent capability for healing and growth. Just as the lotus blooms in murky water, we all have the natural ability to overcome the adversities in life and blossom into our authentic selves. Hence, I believe I am just a witness to my clients' journeys, guiding and empowering them to find their inner strength and resilience.
