Hi I'm Melissa, a clinical psychologist in private practice in Spring Hill. I support people who feel stressed and anxious to learn to rest and enjoy their life and relationships more. They have often worked hard and kept busy to manage their anxiety until a crisis, or even a fleeting moment of joy, tells them that something needs to change. I offer a mindfulness and body based psychodynamic approach that suits people who want to understand themselves better as well as enjoy their life more.

PHONEPRACTICE LOCATIONS

  • Ballow Chambers, 121 Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill, Brisbane QLD 4000 0484 641 793 PHONE 0484 641 793

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy
  • I offer psychodynamic therapy integrated with mindfulness and somatic (body-based) practices. This kind of therapy is particularly helpful for people who want to understand themselves better as well as experience more choice in how they live their lives.

In your first therapy sessions I’ll guide you in thinking about what’s brought you to therapy and your hopes for the therapy process. As I get to know you and you start to get a sense of me and how I work we can come to an initial shared understanding of what’s going on for you and how therapy might be able to help. Potential benefits of therapy include learning to rest and enjoy life more, finding your voice, and experiencing deeper connections with yourself and others.

    Areas of Special Interest

  • Anxiety / Panic Attacks, Assertiveness, Decision Making, Emotional Crisis, Existential Issues, Grief / Bereavement, Guilt Feelings, Intimacy Issues, Life Transitions, Psychosomatic, PTSD, Self Development, Stress Management, Trauma Recovery, Workplace Issues
  • MODALITIES / Approach

Emotionally Focused Therapy, Experiential, Hakomi, Interpersonal, Meditation, Mindfulness, Process Oriented, Psychodynamic, Somatic Psychotherapy

Understanding yourself can help with knowing where and how to make changes in your life. There are also times when you might know logically what’s wrong or what you need to do but it doesn’t change how you feel. A body based approach that helps you get more in touch with how it feels to be in your body can help with this. Often people learn new information from their bodies that wasn’t available to the logical brain. This can point to new pathways for shifting stuck patterns to allow you to experience the rest and deeper connections you’ve been longing for.
