Background
I discovered meditation and yoga at 21 and have used it for my own healing journey ever since. After 17 years in Medical Nursing, Cancer, and pain management in hospital and community setting, I wanted a change. My goal was to use what I'd learnt personally and professionally to help others so I trained as a yoga teacher, and mindfulness-based, somatic-based process therapist and hypnotherapy in 2003. I have therapeutic experience in relationship issues, grief and loss, life-threatening illness, trauma, panic attacks, anxiety, fears and phobia's, addictions, compulsions, obsessions, quit smoking and other habits.

A conversation with Heather Cavill Greer
-
Mainly my own healing journey inspired me to help others. I am fascinated by the power of the mind, and the ability we all have to survive and heal ourselves. I have always enjoyed listening and helping people so the transition from Cancer Nursing into psychotherapy was an easy one.
-
I use an integrated or holistic approach to therapy which includes aspects of mindfulness taken from Eastern Philosophy such as Buddhism, and yoga, humanistic client-centred therapy, parts therapy, and an Ericksonian approach.
-
I am interested in experiences and events that shape our lives, how we manage transitions and crisis situations, how to develop a positive relationship with self and other.
-
Mindfulness & meditation, Hypnosis, Brainspotting, Mindfulness-based Cognitive therapy (MbCBT) Mindfulness psychotherapy, EFT, Hakomi based relationships therapy, aspects of pyschodrama and somatic therapy.
-
After the first session I would like you to feel hopeful and after the third session you can expect real results.
-
I feel it is imperative that all therapists do their own personal therapy. My own journey has helped me to really appreciate what's involved in the healing journey, to face the parts that scare me or transform the shame, fear or anger.
Its helped me to be more authentic, less reactive or defensive, be more accepting of myself and others, have appropriate boundaries, stay true to myself and be compassionate companion to myself and others. -
Sitting with the full spectrum of human experience and watching people blossom
-
Of course - I learn more from these experiences than the easy ones!
-
Not enough love and compassion - if we truly had compassion for all living things our priorities would shift in many area's.
-
Too many to list - in every creative work there is a message if we find a way to connect with it on a deep level.
