Philosophy & Vision
People are inherently wise, resourceful and capable of living rich, interesting lives with balance and harmony. Becoming connected with oneself and others in meaningful ways, provides the avenue by which contentment and fulfilment can be reached.
Background
I have been in practice for 10 years. During that time it's been my focus to develop resources for women and mothers that are practical and effective. Having seen a dramatic increase in stress levels for women over the years, I've been motivated to found the Bare Hands Project with my colleague, Laurie Morrison, an educational workshop series which equips women with skills and strategies to build meaningful relationships, find balance again and provides a network of like minded women.
Services
Counselling/psychotherapy is useful for; challenge resolution (stress), depression, anxiety, anger management, relationship enhancement and mentorship. Working with a counsellor enables people to see hidden strengths and resources that may have lain hidden from view. Utilising these enables people to approach difficult situations from a point of resilience and confidence, thereby achieving positive outcomes.
Quality Provision
As a counsellor and therapist, I am focused on working with clients in creative, uplifting and effective ways. I am passionate about working with families to achieve harmonious and loving dynamics to build a nourishing home, from which all members blossom. I particularly delight in working with mothers to develop emotional strategies and communication skills that build delightful relationships with their kids.

Therapy Approach
I employ a wide range of techniques and tools in counselling, with the emphasis on immediate, positive, solution-focused therapy. I believe a good session with my clients is one when we can take a realistic look at what's happening, there may be a tear or too and add a good pinch of laughter. Follow that with a clear idea of what strengths and resources they have at hand, and a method of using those in daily life, and we have resilience to face the ups and downs of life.

My lifetime's passion is to provide a positive role model as a parent and how to equip mothers to do the same. I believe mothers are of primary importance in determining the coping strategies and resilience that children learn. If we can equip these vital role models with positive, nurturing skills then I believe we can dramatically and positively change the generations to come, towards greater compassion, balance and mindfulness. I continue to research and compile strategies that are effective and to resource knowledge for women that makes a difference. Counselling and psychotherapy are fabulous techniques that enable people to explore and empower themselves towards positive change.

I have been impressed by solution focused practitioners such as Bill O'Hanlon, Michael Yapko, Irvin Yalom, Rob McNeilly, Milton Erickson, Carl Jung and Carl Rogers. I utilise a range of approaches from CBT, ACT, Art and Play Therapy, Existentialism, Positive Psychology, Epigenetics, Neuroplasticity, Neurolinguistic Programming and many others. I like to work with where my client is at and then we can stretch together from there. The story of the past is relevant but I don't believe it's the most important point. My focus is on how can we use what has happened and turn it to good account, looking forward.

Developing practical communication and life strategies that work, emotional management to build meaningful relationships and engaging people with the core values to live a life of balance and purpose.

I work with the resources my client already has and transcribe these into areas in their life that may not yet feel effective. I like to find the 'how to' with my clients so they feel empowered to problem solve and face the normal challenges of life.
