Philosophy & Vision

I am a positive, empathetic, and collaborative psychologist with a client-centred approach to treatment, and a passion for working with individuals & couples.

I believe people deserve to be happy, feel good within themselves, and lead functional, productive lives regardless of their background or adversities they face. I understand this may be confronting and challenging and I work hard with my clients in exploring deep values and finding inner motivation. I gain immense satisfaction when clients achieve their potential, recover from mental health concerns, find the courage to deal with past trauma, or make positive life changes.

Background

I have always had a strong interest in human behaviour, and in 2013 I followed my passion and commenced the pathway to become a Psychologist. I am blessed to be happily married with a beautiful family and I draw on those experiences in connecting with the joys and stresses of moving through the demographics of life. Being a male clinician and role model has been valuable in providing services in areas such as behaviour/emotional/communication issues, parenting, relationships and manhood. Having been a former elite athlete has given me insight into human potential, work-ethic, determination, success and failure. My journey as a psychologist started with working in public health and has progressed into private practice.

  • I am a positive, empathetic, and collaborative clinician with a client-centred approach to psychological treatment. A conversation with Nick Batty

    • I have always had a strong interest in human behaviour, and in 2013 I followed my passion and commenced the pathway to become a Psychologist.
    • We may at times feel broken, but we are not broken, it's just a feeling and we can bounce back emotionally, recover and restore our sense of self.
    • Recovery from mental health concerns, traumatic experiences and addiction. Achieving happiness and reaching potential.
    • Initial connection, relieve distress and enable coping. Rapport and trust building, confronting truth and fear, exploring discomfort and vulnerability. Committing to change.
    • Hopefully from the first appointment.....that's my aim
    • Therapy has allowed me to help more people by gaining a deeper understanding of a wide range of mood, personality and behavioural issues.
    • Its pretty cool being able to make a living from sitting on a comfy lounge and helping someone work through issues and concerns.
    • Please refer to my profile picture. As you will see its not an issue!!
    • Narcissism, entitlement
    • I often workout to Rachel Platten's "Fight Song". I like the lyrics and the message.
