Philosophy & Vision

Greetings and thank you for your interest. With over 20 years of experience working in mental health and wellbeing field it's my pleasure and mission to assist you in the best way possible. I have an approach that is genuine, engaging and warm. My therapy technique is person centred, strengths & solution focussed. I use creative modalities as a university qualified Art Therapist and a Medicare approved mental health clinician. I work with young people and adults providing mental health support, parental coaching, ADHD support, Autism support, treatment of Anxiety and Depression as well as other related Mood Disorders (OCD, ODD, Sleep Problems, School Refusal, Work Place and Interpersonal Difficulties etc). I'm approved Workers Compensation Counsellor, Victim Services Counsellor, NDIS provider and Medicare Provider. I accept GP referrals and offer a Medicare Rebate. I look forward to assisting you or your loved ones.

Background

My journey in this field started in 2000 when I graduated from the school of Social Work-UNSW. I entered Dept. of Health and worked in various different roles predominantly in therapy and clinical spaces/teams where I stumbled upon Art Therapy. I completed my Masters Degree in 2009 and subsequently applied to become a Medicare Approved Mental Health Clinician and started accepting GP referrals as a first step to my Private Practice. Since then I have been in various highly skilled contracts such as the NSW Court Clinicians, Academic Staff/Teaching, Corporate training as well as Supervising other clinicians in the field. Currently I work Medicare, NDIS, Victim Services, Workers Compensation and see Private Clients.

Services

  • Counselling, Coaching / Mentoring, Clinical Supervision, Online Video Consultations
  • My first appointment always includes a diagnostic formulation and a thorough assessment of the presenting concerns. A client can expect to have a clear understanding of what to expect, how long to attend, what the sessions will look like and the goals by the end of their first session.
I have a bio-psychosocial method of assessment which allows the client to sit back and relax while I guide the first session in the most efficient way to bring clarity and guidance going forward. My clients enjoy this process and walk away feeling clearer, affirmed and optimistic about their treatment. Together we share a journey of self discovery, finding new strengths and solutions to whatever challanges are on the path.

    Quality Provision

I'm a senior member of AASW which is the Australian governing professional body for accrediter mental health clinicians and medicare providers in my field. My membership comes with professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

    A conversation with Nev Guven

    • I chose to be a counsellor as I have a natural inclination to help others and care about health and wellbeing of all people.
    • I'm passionate about gender equality, international children's rights and humanity's future & well being. I have an existential world view and believe everyone should be supported not only to survive but to also thrive.
    • I'm particularly interested in mental health and well being. I have an interest and fascination in spiritual growth and other holistic approaches such as naturopathy, Kinesiology, hypnosis, Reflexology, Polyvagal Theory, Tapping meditations and much more.
    • Art therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, Tapping Meditations, Solution Focussed Therapy, Psychoeducation and Narrative Therapy.
    • This is an individual and unique experience. Coming to therapy and being open to making changes is the main step. From there progresss often comes in leaps and bounds.
    • I've personally used therapy in life coaching, career coaching, parental coaching, debriefing and reflecting. I also engage in professional supervision. I believe therapy can provide the best space for reflection, guidance and clarity.
    • I love being a witness to other's life experiences and feel privileged and honoured to be a part of their journey.
    • Who doesn't have bad hair days? We all do, it's part of being human. I normalise bad hair days.
    • Gender inequalities, poverty, abuse of power, media polluting the minds of young and vulnerable young people are just a few of the world problems today.
    • I'm highly interested in Dolores Cannon's work in Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique. This is my area of interest in books and training events that inspires me.
