Philosophy & Vision

I am a Psychotherapist and Couples Counsellor with extensive experience helping individuals and couples. I have an integrated approach, whether it be for help in dealing with a current issue, relationship issues or healing trauma.

We all need connection and a sense of being understood. I have over 30 years experience helping individuals create a deep relationship with themselves and helping couples create a secure connection to their partner. A strong bond is a powerful fundament for working through challenges as individuals, and as couples working together.

Background

After extensive travelling when I was younger I was drawn to the health professions and trained as a General Nurse. However having an innate sense that Nursing wasn’t for me I began my search to find an occupation that I felt at home in. This led me to several years of having my own retail fashion outlet in Sydney. Whilst I was successful in the fashion retail business I still felt I hadn’t found my ‘home’. During this time I also studied acting, the emotional demands of which led to a great change in my life. It became obvious that to find my life’s work I needed to address my childhood trauma. This ultimately led me to study psychotherapy which I have been ‘at home’ in ever since.

    Therapy Approach

Every person is a unique individual. I have training and experience in a wide range of modalities so that I tailor every session to an individual’s needs.
My work is primarily trauma-informed. Past trauma can feel alive in the present moment, interfering with us living our fullest lives. While trauma is pervasive, excitingly we live in a time where recent advances in neuroscience have transformed our understanding of how past trauma is stored in the brain but also in the body. This understanding has paved the way for exciting new techniques to working with trauma leading to an authentic expression of self.
