Philosophy & Vision
I value warmth and empathy in my approach to therapy and strive to understand the individual difficulties and circumstances of each person I work with. I recognise that everyone comes to therapy with a unique story and life history that has shaped them. My aim is to make sense of those stories in a way that helps you to feel understood, and to understand yourself and others so that you can manage the difficulties you experience more effectively.
Background
I have worked in a range of different capacities in the mental health field which has helped to give me a broad perspective on the experience of mental health problems and how they can be treated.
Services
I understand that coming to therapy can sometimes be challenging. I strive to create a safe and comfortable space so that my clients feel relaxed and know that they will not be judged and that what they say is confidential. I encourage my clients to give feedback about their experience of therapy and to discuss any concerns or issues that may arise for them in the course of therapy.
Quality Provision
All psychologists are legally required to be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) as the regulatory body for psychology under the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). This is to ensure that they meet specified standards of competence and ethical practice. The title “clinical psychologist†is awarded to those psychologists who have completed an approved postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology.

Therapy Approach
I aim to empower my clients to better understand themselves so they can make their own decisions about their life and relationships. I am experienced in using short term approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy but also use Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to treat more complex problems that may require longer treatment. Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy is another approach that I regularly use that is very effective in treating trauma related difficulties
