Philosophy & Vision

When life's journey is difficult, sometimes it helps to have someone walk with you, as you navigate bumps in the road that get in the way. As a therapist, I can walk on this journey with you providing support and guidance to help you get to where you want to go. With Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and the Hakomi principles, we can explore your unique journey with mindful curiosity, integrating all aspects of self - mind, emotions, body and spirit.

Background

As a Clinical Psychologist with over 16 years experience, I am committed to helping people heal by creating a safe, respectful environment. Over the years, I have also explored many personal development approaches and this culminated in my studies in counselling, psychotherapy and psychology. After many wrong turns in the road, I found Hakomi and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy in the 1990s. I was attracted to these approaches because they focused on the whole person - body, mind emotions and spirit.

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy, Clinical Supervision, Online Video Consultations
  • While Lenora specialises in working with adults experiencing Anxiety, Depression, Trauma and Stress, people do not fit into neat categories and diagnoses. Often underneath these conditions, complex emotional issues arise from relationship issues, family problems, childhood experiences, and problems within the work environment. These are often inter-twined and therapy can be a journey of unravelling the knots in your life.

    Quality Provision

It is important to me to learn and grow as a therapist. To ensure my work is effective and ethical, I engage in regular clinical supervision in both Clinical Psychology and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. And I undertake ongoing professional development.

    Therapy Approach

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy grew out of Hakomi and retains Hakomi's gentle and respectful approach and delves deeper into working with trauma in Level I. Level II looks into how our adult experiences are affected by our childhood experiences and how traumatic, attachment, and developmental issues influence one another and how to provide therapy given their inevitable intertwining. In July 2016, at the first Australian Level III training, I became a Certified advanced practitioner of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. In Level III, we learned advanced skills in affect regulation, attachment and trauma.
