Profile Tips
PROFESSIONAL ELIGIBILITY
Choose one or two Practitioner Types for which you have relevant training and qualifications.
These will appear next to your name.
PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
It is important to keep your profile information up to date.
If you are no longer a member of a particular Association, please un-select so it does not show on your profile.
QUALIFICATIONS
Enter the details of your Qualifications in full.
SEARCHABLE DATA
The selections you make here correspond with the criteria on an Advanced Search
Please ensure the data you select is consistent. For example if you are an Art Therapist, you should also
select Art Therapy from Modalities / Approach. Or if you select Groups from Clientele, it makes sense
to select Group Therapy, Clinical Supervision or Workshops from Services.
Note for Psychologists:
Do not select Clinical or Counselling Psychologist etc unless you have the relevant endorsement.
AVAILABILITY SETTINGS
Select On Leave if you are taking some time out from private practice, either in the short term or indefinitely.
Your profile will show only if someone selects "On Leave" from the Availability field of our Find a Therapist Search page.
You can leave a message at the top of your profile letting people know that you are not presently seeing clients.
If you are retiring permanently from private practice then select Retired
Your profile will show when someone selects "Retired" from the Availability field on our Find a Therapist Search page.
People will only be able to see the Philosophy/Vision fields on your profile, so use these to leave a message.
This is a good way of letting people know that you are no longer working in private practice.
You might be surprised how many people try to locate their therapist from years ago!

PROFILE TEXT FIELDS
The text fields are considered by many practitioners to be the hardest to complete. For busy people, slowing down to think through what to write may not be easy. We encourage you to give careful consideration to each of the text fields, particularly Philosophy / Vision (what you write here shows on search results pages and at the top of your profile.)
We tend to take ourselves for granted, because, well wherever we go, there we are.
It may help to imagine what it is like for the individuals who are looking to find a therapist. Credentials are important however they are not always enough. People are trying to sense who you are; they're asking "Can I relate to this person?" and "How would this person relate to me?"
A good profile will accurately convey information that is meaningful and useful. Sharing something about your background and interests; elaborating on your therapeutic approach; including a photo - details such as these can assist those looking for a therapist to find someone who is a good match for them personally.
Ideally, your profile will enable people to feel a connection, before they pick up the phone to call you.
