Profile Photos

Good Therapy has asked several hundred people about the importance of a photo on a practitioner profile and almost everyone said a photo is as important as what the therapist writes.

Images tell a story that words cannot. As a language, imagery is at the same time personal and universal. While most people can speak only one, two or three verbal languages, we are all affected by and capable of responding to an image.

It is not always necessary to have professional portrait photos done, most people have a photo of themselves that they like, snapped by a friend or family member. Sometimes, a candid image captures the essence of a person more effectively than a well rehearsed studio portrait.

If you don't have a suitable photo, we recommend that you seek out a professional photographer. The work of a portrait photographer is not unlike the work of a therapist: they understand the nature of light and dark, timing, mirroring and exposure. They also practice the art of enabling people to relax while being the centre of a stranger's attention.

Please send only good quality images, preferably the original file. We will crop and resize so that it fits your profile nicely.
