A conversation with Corinne Lindsell
-
I have always been in the Helping profession, since I was in high school (working in recreation programs for people with disabilities).
This led me to work overseas in a Summer Camp in USA for special needs, and I worked with the New Jersey Foster System, which opened my eyes to youth work and child protection.
This lead me to commencing youth Work and then completing a Post Graduate Degree in Social Work. -
My Christian faith is very much a guiding base for my own personal development, and they match up well with the AASW Professional Standards and Code of Ethics.
-
Mental Health and positive well being should be accessible to everyone, and I believe everyone has a right to feeling Safe; Physically and Emotionally

Depending on their stages of change and area of need, they can feel immediate progress or it could take them a while to unpack some surface things before progress is noticeable.
Either way, the client needs to feel comfortable with sharing vulnerable information and rapport needs to be made. -
Personally as a recipient of therapy I have developed life skills.
As a therapist, it is fulfilling to see people reach their goals and strive for health.
The professional and personal experiences I have with therapy has enabled me to access genuine empathy and become more approachable.
It has taught me to always listen, because everyone has a story -
The privilege that it is to walk beside someone in their storms
