Philosophy & Vision
The aim of counselling is to assist people in managing any transitions in their life, giving them a safe place to talk about emotions and thoughts that they may not have been able to express before, or which always seem to return. Therapy also helps enable people to manage difficult feelings, without avoiding them or acting them out, bringing a sense of relief, so they can understand their current situation and make committed action to change for the better.
Background
Building on a solid background in teaching and following a time devoted to parenthood, I entered the field of counselling over 15 years ago.
In addition to my counselling work with individuals, I am a clinical hypnotherapist and naturopath. I have a special interest in brain related disorders such as mild cognitive impairment and early Alzheimer's.
Services
Working towards solutions allows people to take responsibility for themselves, and apply these solutions to life, learning, work, and relationships.
This approach to counselling enables a client to deeply explore the repetitive painful interactions and experiences that may underlie anger, depression, workplace and relationship difficulties, eating disorders, addictions, and the complex effects of trauma.
Quality Provision
I have studied a range of therapeutic modalities which I am able to draw upon to find the best method of working with my clients. Currently I am in the final stages of completing a Master of Counselling Practice.
The quality of service I provide is maintained through regular supervision of my work, involvement in professional and personal development opportunities, and ongoing study and research.
