Philosophy & Vision
I’m a clinical psychologist who believes nothing about you is “too much”, broken, or wrong. The ways you’ve learned to cope make sense in the context of what you’ve lived through.
My work is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and a deep respect for the many layers that make up a person. I’m especially interested in the inner worlds we carry, the vulnerable parts, the protective parts, and the parts that feel tired or overwhelmed.
I aim to create a space that feels safe, human, and non-judgemental, where you don’t have to perform or have everything “figured out”. Our work is collaborative and guided by your individual needs and pace.
I bring over 21 years of clinical experience, working with people navigating trauma, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm.
Background
I bring over 21 years of experience working in public mental health, including acute and hospital-based settings, where I’ve supported people through some of the most complex and challenging periods of their lives.
My work has involved assessing and responding to a wide range of presentations, including trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and significant life stressors. I’ve worked closely within multidisciplinary teams, as well as alongside individuals and families, to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and to support meaningful change.
This experience has shaped my calm, thoughtful, and compassionate approach. I’m comfortable working with complexity, and I take care to understand each person’s story in a way that feels respectful, collaborative, and grounded.
Services
I offer individual therapy for adults and young people.
My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, compassionate approach, with a focus on understanding the deeper patterns and experiences that shape how you feel and respond to the world.
I support people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions, as well as those who may feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure why things feel the way they do.
Sessions are collaborative and tailored to you. I take the time to understand your inner world, build insight, and support change in a way that feels manageable and meaningful.
Quality Provision
I provide a thoughtful, values-driven, and evidence-informed service, grounded in over 21 years of clinical experience.
My work is guided by respect, curiosity, and a commitment to creating a safe and non-judgemental space.
I am also committed to my own ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and reflective practice to ensure that the care I provide remains responsive, considered, and of a high standard.

A conversation with Angie Kotris
-
I have always been drawn to understanding people, not just what they are going through, but how they have come to carry it, and what has helped them survive.
Over time, this grew into a deep respect for the ways people adapt to difficulty, even when those adaptations later become painful or limiting. Psychotherapy felt like a space where this could be explored with care, curiosity, and without judgement.
After more than 20 years in public mental health, that motivation has only strengthened. I continue to feel privileged to sit alongside people as they make sense of their experiences and move towards something different. -
I am particularly interested in how people carry and respond to adversity, including trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and periods where life feels unmanageable.
I also have a strong interest in working with people who are highly capable, or used to holding things together for others, yet may be experiencing distress beneath the surface. This can include those navigating pressure, identity shifts, or significant life transitions.
More broadly, I am interested in how our early experiences, relationships, and environments shape the way we see ourselves and the world, and how these patterns can be gently understood and shifted over time. -
My approach is trauma informed and tailored to each individual.
I draw on evidence based therapies including Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other integrative approaches. This allows us to understand both the underlying patterns driving distress, and the practical ways to support change.
I aim to work collaboratively, at a pace that feels safe and manageable, with a focus on both insight and meaningful, sustainable progress. -
This can vary, but many people begin to notice small shifts early on, such as feeling understood, having more clarity about what they are experiencing, or finding moments of relief.
Over time, progress often looks like responding differently to situations that once felt overwhelming, developing greater self awareness, and experiencing a sense of healing in areas that have felt stuck or painful. It can also involve feeling more connected to yourself, and moving towards a way of living that feels more meaningful. -
What I value most is the opportunity to create a space where people can feel safe enough to be honest about their experiences, often in ways they have not been able to elsewhere.
I find it deeply meaningful to witness people begin to understand themselves with greater compassion, and to see the shifts that occur when they no longer have to carry things alone. It is a privilege to be trusted with that process.
