Philosophy & Vision

Tom is a compassionate Clinical Psychologist with many years of experience in the field. He has completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Queensland (UQ) and has worked in a number of hospitals, non-profit organisations and private settings.

Tom's main areas of interest include depression, treatment resistant depression, social anxiety, low self confidence, low self-esteem, motivational problems, relationship struggles, anger, self-harm behaviours, addictions, personality disorders, PTSD, FND and eating disorders. Tom is a full member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).

    Therapy Approach

    Tom uses evidence-based therapeutic models of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. He has completed his 3 year Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) core training and currently completing advanced training in Affect State Therapy (AST), which is a modified version of ISTDP.

    AST is a short term dynamic psychotherapy and is supported by attachment theory, contemporary comprehension of neuropsychology, and how change occurs in psychotherapy.

    Tom works on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 9am to 5pm.

    Fees & Insurance

    Tom charges $250 for a 50 minute per consultation. If the client has a GP Mental Health Care Plan, the medicare rebate is $141.85. This leaves a $108.15 out of pocket fee per consultation to the client.
