Philosophy & Vision
I am an experienced clinical psychologist and psychotherapist offering short- and long-term therapy to adults. I see patients with a variety of concerns and provide a space where the therapist and patient work together towards understanding how one's early life experiences has contributed to emotional difficulties.
My experience and interest includes work with patients with chronic or longstanding mood problems, people with relational and attachment difficulties, and people who feel stuck and overwhelmed. I also have a specific interest in working therapeutically with health professionals.
Background
I have been in clinical practice for over 15 years. I have a strong interest in research and have maintained an active research and academic role alongside my clinical work. Currently, in addition to clinical practice, I am a sessional academic at the Australian Catholic University, and honorary Research Fellow with the University of Aberdeen, Scotland (UK). Previously, I held academic positions of Research Fellow in the UK, and Clinic Director and Post-Graduate Course Co-ordinator at Australian Catholic University.
Services
I offer individual psychoanalytic therapy. This type of therapy is usually longer-term and helps patients gain a deeper insight of themselves, their symptoms and patterns of behaviour, and their relational problems - with the assumption that some of these patterns operate outside of the patient's conscious awareness. Concerns in these areas are often long-standing and complex, and understanding them is achieved through reflective thinking and talking.
Quality Provision
I attend regular and ongoing supervision and regular continuing professional development.
