Philosophy & Vision

Hello, I'm Tenile. I am a clinical psychologist with a warm, empathic and reflective approach. As human beings, we all experience pains from living. My aim is to help you work through your experiences of the past and the present, in order to create space for enriched relationships with your self and with others. I work collaboratively with you in building a deeper understanding of your self, with the intention that this work supports you in living a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Background

I have clinical experience with assessment and treatment of a range of psychological conditions in various settings including university clinics, private mental health hospitals and public hospitals. I have experience with a number of therapeutic approaches such as psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy and motivational interviewing. I have worked with adults, children and geriatric clients who are experiencing both clinical and non-clinical psychological difficulties.

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy
  • I work with adults who are experiencing a range of difficulties such as mood-related distress (e.g., feeling depressed, anxious or angry), problems with interpersonal relationships (family, romantic, friendships, work), challenges with self-esteem/sense of self, stress and fatigue, adjustment to life events and changes, and/or a sense of dissatisfaction with one or several aspects of life. I also work with individuals who are seeking to explore and make meaning from their life experiences (both of their inner world and the outside world), in order to build greater self awareness and understanding. Adults both with and without a clinical diagnosis are welcome. Short- and long-term treatment options are available.

    Quality Provision

I am a registered clinical psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. I am also a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and an Associate Member of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists. I am deeply committed to regular engagement in professional supervision and professional development activities to ensure that I am continuously improving my knowledge and skills for the benefit of my clients.

    Therapy Approach

I am deeply committed to providing a safe and empathic space for therapy. Combining my professional knowledge, skills and experience with a natural curiosity about the human condition, I work collaboratively with you to establish a deeper understanding of your experiences and to develop a treatment plan which is tailored to your individual needs. I work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective, which usually involves in-depth work on a regular basis and over longer periods of time than in other therapies. I also make use of other therapeutic approaches (such as cognitive-behavioural therapy) where necessary.
