Philosophy & Vision
Supporting children and families has always felt like second nature to me. Early in my career, I saw how much difference consistency, care, and understanding could make in a young person’s life and that belief has guided my work ever since.
I spent over 15 years in child protection, working with children and young people living with the impacts of developmental trauma. Over time, I moved into leadership as a Practice Lead, training and supporting teams of carers and parents to respond therapeutically to children with complex needs and big emotions.
Along the way, I became a qualified Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor, undertaking further study to specialise in the areas of Child Development and Effective Parenting, Family Therapy, Working with Children and Adolescents, and Play Therapy. These studies deepened my understanding of how to support not just children, but the family systems around them.
Background
Before starting Shared Ground, Sofi spent more than fifteen years supporting children, families, and care teams in child protection and therapeutic care. Her work focused on helping young people heal from trauma and guiding caregivers to understand and respond with empathy. Over time, she moved into senior roles, providing clinical supervision and training practitioners in trauma-informed and relational approaches. Today, Sofi brings this depth of experience into her private practice, supporting families and individuals to find steadiness, connection, and growth in their everyday lives.
