    10 Questions with Robyn Mansfield

    • What led you to choose psychotherapy or counselling as a profession?

    • A deep curiosity and interest in people and the human condition.
    • Which philosophical approaches have influenced your professional/personal development?

    • My core philosophical approach is driven by my curiosity, and drawing on techniques that help to create shifts, changes and healing. I am interested in answering questions such as what makes us think, feel and behave the way we do? How do we navigate life, and find a path to follow? How do we encounter challenges, and how do we find meaning? When we get stuck, how do we create a shift? My approach in sessions is to explore and work together with the client to understand where they currently find themselves, and to collaboratively find a path forward that addresses issues and opens doors for increased fulfillment.
    • What method/s do you use?

    • I draw upon methods including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness techniques.
    • When do you think the client will start to feel that progress is being made?

    • This varies depending on the circumstances and goals of each client. For some, a meaningful shift can occur in 5 to 10 sessions. For others wishing to create a change in long-held patterns of behaviour, it can be beneficial to attend sessions for a longer time.
