Philosophy & Vision

I see therapy as both a process & a relationship which offers an opportunity to deepen our understanding of ourselves. Those who seek therapy may do so because of a particular experience or a relationship in the past that has caused pain. Others seek therapy due to current difficulties or a sense of disconnection with themselves or the world. Overtime therapy strives to integrate conscious and unconscious (or deeper) parts of our being, allowing us to feel more connected to ourselves & others.

Background

Over my career I have worked in variety of settings including within counseling agencies, sexual assault services, university counseling services, hospitals and crisis counseling settings.

Within my practice I work with people experiencing a diverse range of issues who are wanting to deepen their understanding of themselves, their relationships with others & their worlds.

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis, Professional Training, Clinical Supervision, Online Video Consultations
  • I offer long term psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, this allows space to create a safe container for less known or 'emerging' parts of the self to develop. Therapy may involve one, two or more sessions per week, depending on what we agree on.

Within therapy we may use your dreams, sandplay or active imagination, equally we may focus on what is happening within your life, your experiences in the past or what happens between us (i.e. the therapeutic relationship) to help us to make sense of your world.

I also run dream groups for those wanting to exploring their dreaming within an intimate closed group.

I provide individual & group supervision for clinicians interested in Jungian, Post Jungian & relational psychoanalytic perspectives.

    Quality Provision

I am a member of multiple professional bodies / organizations & undertake regular professional development and training within field.

I am a candidate, nearing the end of my training as a Jungian Analyst with the Australian and New Zealand Society of Jungian Analysts (ANZSJA) Analyst Training Program. As a requirement of this training I engage in extensive course work, personal analysis and clinical supervision.

    Therapy Approach

I specialize in Jungian Psychotherapy, an approach based on the work of Carl Jung & many post-Jungians since. It holds a fundamental belief in the psyche's tendency towards wholeness & healing. It also acknowledges both conscious & unconscious (emerging) parts of the self. Jungian Psychotherapy is interested in understanding symptoms/current difficulties as meaningful symbolic communication from the psyche rather than focusing purely on 'symptom reduction'.

Along side Jungian Psychotherapy I draw on a range of skills and approaches from my various previous trainings including person centred theory, trauma and attachment theories, relational psychoanalytic & feminist perspectives.
