Philosophy & Vision
Hi There
If we don’t know each other yet, you may be here because you are struggling with life’s challenges, or contemplating change. Booking your first appointment can be daunting — especially if you feel lost or at a low ebb. I can help you with that by giving you a safe, confidential space where you can talk, and be listened to, with empathy and without judgement.
My mission is to help you connect with your authentic self, grow in self-awareness, and make the positive changes you desire. No matter what stage of life you are in, change is always possible, to improve your wellbeing and build the life you want.
My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed and LGBTQI + friendly.
I'd love to hear from you.
Rachel

I have always been deeply interested in people and the human condition. No two people are the same and everyone has a fascinating story to tell. It is such a privilege to listen carefully and seek to understand people. I believe it is very important for you to feel safe to explore your concerns and make well considered choices that align with your values.

The Existential philosophical approach has had a profound impact on my professional development, in particular, the work of Victor Frankl.
I am often inspired by his words: " When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves."
I also take great comfort from the stoic philosophers who encouraged us all to focus on what is actually within our control. -
I am fascinated by every stage of human development, but at the present time, I am working with adults from 18-100. No matter where we are up to on the human journey, one thing we can be sure of is that "Change is the only constant."
-
My approach is person-centred and as such, I provide a safe and supportive environment for people to be listened to with empathy and without judgement. I am trained in a variety of evidence based therapies including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Therapies, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Schema Therapy and Positive Psychology.

Hopefully from the first session onwards.

It has made me more compassionate towards other humans and to myself.

I get to do what I love every day, which is spending time with people and having rich and rewarding conversations. It is so wonderful to witness people's growth and change over time and to see what is possible with therapy.
-
Oh yes, of course!

Disconnection is a big problem in the world today. As humans, we are hardwired for connection, and it is of vital importance to prioritise our social connections throughout our lives.

Victor Frankl's "Mans Search for Meaning" is a profoundly wise book that I pick up and read every few years.
I love the Danish film "Babette's Feast" for its sensitive exploration of love, grace, generosity and the beauty of creativity in varied forms.
