Philosophy & Vision

Hi,
I specialise in complex trauma, PTSD, attachment disorders, personality disorders and childhood adverse experiences. Any form of complex mental health presentation.
I have lived experience, as I survived and thrived through complex trauma myself, so, as well as the knowledge, I have an embodied experience that allows me to help you deeply.
I have the highest hopes and regard for my clients. We work collaboratively to gain you access to skills, insights, and growth that will change your life. For the better.

I work with my clients over many sessions, deeply, until they feel its time to fly alone.

I am also a lecturer at a university, teaching the next generation of psychotherapists.

Background

As a young child, I came from a fractious and dysfunctional family; I was subjected to familial abuse and managed not only to survive but to thrive. I have done decades of work on myself and used that to become the therapist I am today, someone I hope is safe and deeply empathic about the struggles people endure.

I have powerful skills in C-PTSD, trauma, childhood trauma, dissociation, personality disorders, chronic pain, severe mental health disorders, and attachment disorders, among other areas. These, however, are my strongest.

I work clinically as a therapist, also as a lecturer at university, and I will soon be a supervisor for psychotherapists.

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, Group Therapy, Psychoanalysis, Assessment, Walk and Talk Therapy, Coaching / Mentoring, Workshops / Courses, Workplace Training, Professional Training, Phone Consultations, Online Video Consultations
  • As a lecturer, I can also provide educational, professional, workplace or corporate training, as I am always at the cutting edge of research.

I work closely with my clients, often over many years, as many of my presentations are complex.

I can work in a supervisory capacity and hold group therapy.

    Quality Provision

I attend my own supervisory sessions, and I uphold the regulations of PACFA, my governing body. I attend regular workshops and read all the latest research and books in my areas of expertise.

    A conversation with Natalie Wise

    • I struggled through trauma as a child, developing complex trauma as a result. I went into the arts and realised I needed a lot of deep work, so I spent fifteen years in weekly therapy. During that time, I studied and completed my Master's in Psychotherapy, opened my own practice, and then became a lecturer after years of practice.

I wont ever give up working with clients its my passion.
    • The only way out is through; that growth is tough, but not growing is tougher. That what doesn't break you truly makes you stronger and the best gift you can give yourself is healing and getting to know who you truly are before you let all the noise from the outside world in.
    • Complex presentations: anyone who has struggled early in life, had difficult familial relationships and doesn't quite understand what shaped that or why they feel so awful. Anyone who has dealt with narcissists, that is a particular fascination of mine as I navigated one from a very young age.
    • I use all different types of modalities, its not about what I use but what my client needs in that moment and for their journey, then I adjust accordingly.
    • Hopefully, within the first month or so of being with me, they will notice a shift in some parts of their world. My work is deep so sometimes before it gets better it may become a little murkey or tough, but Ill be right there with you and your bravery is what will get your through.
    • If I hadn't attended therapy, I would still be clinging to life, barely surviving.
I now thrive in life, a full, healthy, happy life; I have two young boys, a wonderful husband and wake up grateful almost every day. Grateful I stepped into that room on the scariest day of my life. Grateful I gave it one more shot because I had tried at least seven times prior to finidng my therapist of fifteen years.
    • Lost without you - freya ridings (song)

Under the Tricolor - mary medaware (book)
The alchemist - Paulo Coelho (book)
From Surviving to Thriving - Pete Walker (book)

      Good Will hunting - film
      The notebook (of course!!!)

      Art - the Sistine chapel
