Philosophy & Vision
My name is Michael, Iām a strengths based neurodivergent counsellor for The Divergent Horizon. I work primarily with late diagnosed adults with autism, ADHD, AuDHD, or who identify as being neurodivergent.
Background
I have had experience in both the fields of counselling and social work before experiencing autistic burnout and later being diagnosed with AuDHD. After overcoming my own experience of chronic burnout from undiagnosed autism and ADHD, I decided to open a private practice dedicated to helping neurodivergent individuals who are navigating the challenges of their own individual experience of neurodivergence and late diagnosis. I use my own lived experienced as an AuDHD individual to help guide others in their own journey.
Services
I offer online counselling Australia wide.
My primary focuses are on:
- Exploring your neurodivergent identity
- Cultivating a strengths based perspective on autism and/or ADHD
- Learning to connect to your authentic sense of self
- Unmasking in your relationships
- Navigating complex trauma from not being diagnosed and being misdiagnosed
- Learning how to manage sensitivity and overwhelm
- Emotional regulation and connecting to your emotions in a safe environment
- Working through alexithymia (and understanding the complexity of your emotions)

Therapy Approach
As a counsellor I work in a neuro-affirming and person centered approach. My main focus is on building a collaborative relationship, serving as someone who can walk alongside of you through their own lived experience of having autism and ADHD. I believe that authenticity is key to finding healing and self-acceptance, and that this can only be achieved by cultivating a genuine working partnership where we are both on equal footing. I utilize a trauma-informed approach that honors and affirms your own neurodiverse experience, and is focused on empowering you, not treating or fixing symptoms.
