Philosophy & Vision
I provide down-to-earth counselling for individuals, couples and families, designed to work with your own unique strengths and challenges. I am particularly relationship focused, even with individuals, and also bring experience in working with male clients of all ages and backgrounds.
I believe you should be seen as a unique individual, not a textbook, and that we can work together to find a way forward through your challenges.
Background
I spent the first part of my career working in community organisations providing counselling and group-work to individuals, couples and families across a range of backgrounds and challenges - this included working in post-separation contexts, supporting parents individually and in group settings, providing couple therapy, working with individuals and families through systems such as Child Safety and Department of Corrections, and also supporting student counsellors on placement.
I now work part-time in private practice, while also working part time as a lecturer in the University of Queensland, teaching into the Masters of Counselling program.
Services
I provide short, medium and long-term counselling support to individuals, couples and families depending on your needs - I am happy to work with you as long as you find helpful, whether a few sessions or over a long period of time. I offer face-to-face appointments in the north of Brisbane, and telehealth appointments for people all around Australia. I also offer clinical supervision for counsellors and social workers.
Quality Provision
I am a strong believer in ongoing learning and development, as well as quality assurance for my practice. I regularly engage in clinical supervision with a long-time supervisor and mentor, and participate in professional training and development across the year.

Therapy Approach
While the underlying basis of my counselling approach is based on principles of solution-focused, systemic and strength-based practice, I believe there is no one approach that works for everyone, and that beyond theory it is the relationship we form as counsellor and client that is most powerful. I have an understanding of different theoretical approaches such as CBT, ACT, solution-focused models and existential therapy - and I'm just as interested in understanding how you make sense of the world, of problems, and of change.
