Philosophy & Vision
Marvel is a dedicated psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience helping couples who feel stuck, disconnected, or like they are constantly walking on eggshells. She understands that every couple is different. She doesn't believe in one size fits all counselling because every relationship has its own unique story and challenges.
Most people find Marvel when they are searching for a marriage counsellor near me because they’ve reached a breaking point. They might feel like roommates instead of partners or are tired of a simple chat turning into a blowout argument.
Marvel provides a warm, down-to-earth space where you can actually talk. Instead of traditional, rigid therapy that doesn't always fit, she uses Interpersonal and Relational Therapy. This means she looks at how you and your partner connect (or disconnect) in the real world. She helps you find the why behind your problems and, more importantly, the how to fix

A conversation with Marvel Adeyemi
-
I realised that some of my friends and family ask me for advise about their relationships or situations. They say that I am insightful, objective, have good listening skills and empathetic. So I decided to study counselling and social works so I can be empowered with knowledge and tools to effectively support my community.
-
I believe our thoughts, beliefs and world views influence our behaviours. Therefore, psychoeducation, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy, including behavioural interventions, behaviour modification, cognitive interventions and cognitive therapy in general has influenced my clinical practice.
-
I am interested in Holistic health, including the mind, body and soul.
-
I use person centred, CBT, solution focused , Family systemic approach, Interpersonal techniques, Relaxation strategies, mindfulness, meditation and skills training techniques.
-
I believe progress is being made when clients feel empowered and begin to make little changes in their lives. I help clients set SMART goals so that progress can be measurable. Also, I evaluate and assess regularly to ensure positive treatment outcomes. Together with my client, necessary adjustments are made based on client situations and feedback.
-
Therapy helps me explore my emotions, thoughts and behaviours; helping me identify my strengths and areas that could use improvements, Therapy also provides me with effective tools to reach my goals.
-
A feeling of fulfilment knowing I have helped someone's mental health flourish.
-
Yes, when a client does not show up for a session.

I believe one of the significant problems we face in the world today is inequities and poor access to health care.
