A conversation with Mark De Calmer

Life experiences along with years of significant trauma led me to a very dark place. I found ways to cope and to help others out of the darkness to a brighter life. It became a passion to see others move forward from stuck positions.
-
My professional development is grounded in several key philosophical approaches. Humanistic and existential philosophies shape my belief in each person’s potential for growth, healing, and meaning. Constructivist principles inform my use of narrative therapy, recognizing the power of personal stories in shaping our lives. I also take an integrative approach, drawing on evidence-based methods like CBT, NLP, and mindfulness to tailor support to each client’s unique needs.

I've found over the years that the many problems we face are simply life issues, something most, if not all of us experience at various stages of our journey. Many of these issues are able to be resolved with guided assistance utilising various proven methods.
-
To name a few there's talk therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, NLP, hypnosis, and EMDR however the list is almost endless.
-
Often from the first session, significant change can occur.

Therapy allowed me to find light in the darkest of places and learn to move forward from stuck positions. I became able to look at alternative thought processes instead of a belief system that prevented me from moving on and living life to the fullest.
-
Seeing the transformation in others' lives, watching in many cases tears and distress move to laughter and gratitude for the lives they didn't realise they were living.
-
Have you seen my hair? Seriously who doesn't, it's learning how to deal with those days that makes a difference though.

Many, two that come to the forefront are 1: The Bible and the teaching of Christ and 2. Viktor E. Frankl's book, Man's Search For Meaning.
