Philosophy & Vision

As an experience counsellor and Social Worker, my practice is grounded in seeking practical solutions and developing sustainable strategies which suit individual people and their unique circumstances.
I recognise the impact of trauma and invest time building safe and trusting relationships with my clients. I will support you to recognise and build on your strengths.
I have worked with people across the lifespan to help them cope with adverse childhood experiences and their consequences, unexpected and traumatic loss and to live a happier and more meaningful life.

Background

I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences in a variety of settings in my social work and counselling career. Roles have included case management, counselling, assessment, service management, clinical supervision, and group work. I have been a social work manager and practitioner in women's health for the past 6 years and continue to work with women dealing with complex issues during pregnancy.
People I have worked with include women coping with complex challenges in pregnancy including pregnancy loss, people bereaved in traumatic circumstances, families who have a child with a life-threatening illness, people living with HIV/AIDS, carers.
My practice is person-centred and trauma informed.

Services

  • Counselling, Clinical Supervision, Online Video Consultations
  • I believe building a respectful and honest working relationship is key to good counselling. Whether in person or online, I focus on understanding your situation and the ways you have tried to cope so far. From there, we can work together on strategies to get through the crisis and longer term to live the life you want.
I have a Medicare provider number so you are able to claim rebates with a mental health care plan from your GP.
I have many years experience as a clinical supervisor and enjoy supporting colleagues to enhance their practice and engage in self-care.

    Quality Provision

Social work is bound by a code of ethics and a set of practice standards we all adhere to, which are regularly reviewed to ensure they meet the needs of clients today and recognise emerging challenges. I am a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers, our peak body which verifies and accredits qualifications.
I enjoy further study and undertake ongoing professional development and supervision.
