Philosophy & Vision

Hi there - I create a warm and safe space for you to explore your self and your story. My approach is person-centred, process oriented and trauma-informed. Your stories are sacred and my aim is to support you to become aware of what supports you to heal your story and live a more fulfilling life. The process oriented approach meets you wherever you are on your journey and helps to raise awareness and empower you with a greater sense of who you are.

Background

I have been working in Mental health in some form or another since I was in my early twenties. I studied a Masters In Peace Studies in 1994 and realised after this that individual peace was an essential step towards us experiencing world peace. This took me into working in the mental health sector in the UK - I worked in mental health day services, disability support and as an Occupational Therapy Assistant for Older People in the NHS before working as a Carer's support worker for the Alzheimer's Society.

When I came to Australia on holidays and met my husband I decided to train in Natural Health and have been in that sector since 2006, first as a practice manager for others and then in my own practice since 2012.

    Therapy Approach

I am committed to a trauma-informed approach that respects wherever you are at in the healing journey.
I support you to make informed choices about how you want to work and what works for you in our sessions.

As a long term practitioner of meditation and mindfulness, I often incorporate these practices into my sessions. I sometimes use creative expression as a means of deepening self awareness, accessing and expressing emotions which can be hard to express in words and bring elements of this into the sessions where appropriate to the individual. This may be in the form of basic art work, symbol work or sandplay.

    A conversation with Louise Kanjee

    • Self-growth and learning about the self and supporting others in this has been a passion of mine since I was young. Creating a space where people feel heard, held and supported is something that others tell me I do well and so it felt like a natural progression from my profession as a homeopath to formalise this skill as a counsellor/psychotherapist.
