* I offer both phone/video, and in-person sessions in a large studio room with distancing and hygiene protocols. * My focus is on supporting clients to process the changes and losses currently experienced, which often come in addition to pre-existing personal, relational, familial, and health challenges. Weaving in attachment theory, trauma awareness, psychodynamic and somatic approaches, I support clients in a compassionate and empowering way to find calm, peace and agency in their lives.

    Areas of Special Interest

  • Anxiety / Panic Attacks, Assertiveness, Childhood Issues, Communication Issues, Conflict Resolution, Cultural Issues, Decision Making, Depression, Emotional Overwhelm, Existential Issues, Family / Parenting, Fertility / Pregnancy, Grief / Bereavement, Guilt Feelings, Life Threatening Illness, Life Transitions, Mediation, Migrant Issues, Postnatal Depression, Psychosomatic, Relationship Issues, Self Development, Stress Management, Trauma Recovery, Women's Issues
  • MODALITIES / Approach

Interpersonal, Mindfulness, Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Somatic Psychotherapy, Systems Theory, Trauma-Informed

First and foremost, my approach values an emphasis on creating a safe space in our session(s), reawakening and nurturting a client's forgotten/hidden inner resources, and acknowledging and being with what is - whatever that happens to be... pain, guilt, shame, anger, anxiousness, confusion, indecisiveness, or overwhelm.

Over time, with a gentle introduction of somatically-minded breath and body awareness, we can start to safely unpack the difficult experiences that have brought you to therapy. Weaving a psychodynamic and interpersonal approach into the work, ensures that deeper issues are explored and loosened, in order to make room for change in your day to day life, even where change initally seems impossible.

    Quality Provision

As a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), I uphold high ethical standards, a non-judgemental atittude, and cultural sensitivity.

I am commited to quality and regular clinical supervision and clinical reflection; ongoing professional training and development - both within and outside of my specialty areas; peer learning and peer support groups; as well as my own ongoing personal therapy and development.

Having faced my own challenges in life - from adverse childhood experiences, to migration, divorce, miscarriages, career transition, parenting and relationship challenges - I have learned to value and be present to the simple gifts that life offers. From a more grounded and supported space, I find that I can more easily withstand whatever challenges life has in store for me.

From my holistic counselling training roots over a decade ago, which laid the foundations of my compassionate approach, to my recent Master level psychotherapy training, which has expanded my skills into psychodynamic, somatic, interpersonal and systemic approaches, I have both experiential and theoretical skills to support clients with varied life challenges.

Weekday, evening or Saturday appointments available.

I offer sliding scale fees ($95-$135) depending on your circumstances.

    Loredana Punal

    Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, Somatic Psychotherapist

My counselling training laid the foundations of my empathic and compassionate approach, whilst my more recent psychotherapy training enables me to undertake deeper therapeutic work with clients who have experienced childhood adverse experiences.

Through a sensitive balance between attention to day to day challenges, and their links to earlier life experiences, my work supports individuals to become more empowered in their current lives, and more at peace with their past....
