I am passionate about delivering quality, safe and compassionate care to children, adolescents and families. Our understanding of the world begins from our earliest experiences in life. I am focussed on helping people of all ages work through their current difficulties to experience new ways of being that lead to a fulfilling life. My personal vision is for a world where no child or adult is left to wonder "Am I loved? Am I good enough?", a world of self-compassion and outward care.
I provide sessions to children, adolescents, adults and parents (or carers). Sessions may involve a combination of child/parent/carer work as well as one-on-one work. Services are tailored to fit the needs of the individual and may change as needs or goals change. As therapy is a process, service duration may need to be extended based on need.

I work broadly from an attachment-based heart-centred methodology, meaning that I meaningfully and deeply connect to my clients in order to walk beside them on their journey. I offer strategies and knowledge when the time is right, but prefer for those I work with to let me join with their own inner wisdom to help them acknowledge the best way forward for them. As a professional, I have many years of training and education, but you as the client are the expert on your own life. It is my pleasure and privilege to assist you as a helper, but not take over your power or push my ideas onto you.
As a fully registered Psychologist I adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines and operate in a safe and ethical manner at all times. I am bound by the provisions of the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and have completed advanced training in my Master of Child Play Therapy.
I have a wide variety of experience over 8 years of work with children, adolescents and adults. I have worked in government, non-government, not-for-profit and private health provision delivering individual, small group and large group interventions. This extensive experience has given me insight into the needs of individuals and families from a wide variety of backgrounds, and I enjoy working with people to achieve their individual goals.

Hi, I'm Joan. I specialise in child therapy and parent-child relationship support, along with other aspects of mental health care for children, adolescents, adults, and families. I love to work with people who are interested in the 'why' of this world, in understanding themselves and their family members, and in working toward more compassionate and healthy ways of being in the world. ...
