Philosophy & Vision
I'm a warm, compassionate psychologist offering down-to-earth therapy for adults. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, or trying to make sense of a neurodivergent experience, I offer collaborative, integrative therapy for people who want to reconnect with themselves and live in a way that feels meaningful and values-aligned. I have a particular interest in autistic burnout, and bring a compassionate, strengths-based approach to support gentle and sustainable recovery. Whatever you're carrying, we'll work through it together.
Services
Trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and inclusive therapy for adults, offered online across Australia. This is a space where you are met with curiosity and given room to explore and reflect.
I offer therapy online via Telehealth. You can be wrapped in your favourite blanket, have the company of your furry, scaly or feathered friend, and a comforting warm drink within reach. You can also stim freely and move around if that's what your body needs. No waiting rooms or fluorescent lights. Just you, in your own space, showing up exactly as you are.

Therapy Approach
My practice is rooted in the belief that healing happens across mind, body, spirit, and our relationship with the natural world. I work primarily with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy, alongside Internal Family Systems, Existential, Somatic and Ecotherapy frameworks. I ensure that the chosen therapeutic modality works for the person in front of me.

A conversation with Jennifer Fernandez
-
I came to this work from a previous career in teaching. I've always had a deep care and curiosity about people, and a natural pull toward conversations that go beneath the surface. It was through my own journey with therapy that I finally began to make sense of myself — and something shifted. I realised I wanted to offer others what had been so transformative in my own life.
It is such a privilege to sit with people who are trying to make sense of themselves and find a way of living that feels aligned and authentic. -
My approach is integrative, neuroaffirming and always client-led. A non-patholologising approach is central to this. I often draw upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)for building a freer relationship with our inner experience, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) for exploring the many parts of ourselves with curiosity rather than judgement. I also draw on ecotherapy principles, finding that connection with the natural world can be a powerful thread in the healing process. Existential and spiritual questions often naturally arise in the work — around identity, meaning, and how we want to live — and I welcome exploration of these.

I have a particular interest in what it means to live well as a neurodivergent person. How we can thrive, rather than simply cope in a world that can feel fundamentally misaligned with our neurotype.
Alongside this I'm drawn to the deeper questions of the human journey: identity, meaning, and the process of coming home to yourself after years of masking or self-abandonment. I believe that healing isn't just about reducing symptoms — it's about building a life that has room in it for your authentic self. -
I think the most significant problem we face is disconnection — from ourselves, from each other, and from the natural world. We live in a time shaped by systemic forces that prioritise productivity, consumption, and conformity over genuine human flourishing. The result, for many people, is a profound sense of being cut off from their own inner life, from meaningful community, and the living world around them.
These are not simply personal struggles. They are the inevitable consequence of systems that were not designed with our wellbeing at heart and I think it matters that therapy holds this in view. We don't reduce a person's suffering to individual pathology while ignoring the very real conditions that shape it. In my work I try to hold both: the deeply personal and the systemic, the inner world and the outer one, in a way that honours the full complexity of what it means to be human right now. -
Some books that have really informed my neuroaffirming approach to therapy include:
Women and Girls on the Autism Spectrum by Jess Hendrickx and Sarah Hendrickx
Self-Care for Autistic People by Megan Anna Neff
Unmasking Autism by Dr Devon Price
