Philosophy & Vision
I am a clinical psychologist practising in Perth, Western Australia. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in public and private clinical settings.
People I work with often express difficulties with feeling stuck in their life; they are grappling with a conflict that they have problems resolving. Some people also have profound issues with relating to themselves and other people, which can contribute to feeling isolated. These problems may prevent a person from experiencing life in a meaningful way.
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy aims to enable the person to speak freely about themselves and their problems within a safe and supportive environment. Speaking in this way can lead to someone becoming aware of unhelpful repetitive patterns, which have interfered with their ability to experience satisfaction in life, and to find new ways of relating to themselves and the world.
Background
I have experience working in private and public clinical settings, including private practice and various hospitals.
Services
I primarily offer psychotherapy to adolescents and adults, on a one on one basis. However, if required, families are welcome to join the process.

Modalities
Attachment Theory - Existential - Freudian - Person Centred - Psychoanalytic - Psychodynamic
Therapy Approach
I am primarily informed by psychoanalytic thought, but at the heart of my way of working is the recognition of the singularity of each person I speak with. Each therapy is different because all people are different. Therapy can be conducted face to face or use of the couch can be discussed. Frequency of sessions is dependent on numerous factors, including availability, what is feasible, and the desired depth of work.

People's conflicts and problems with living. I initially developed my interest in psychoanalysis from my love of literature. Literature often deals with the complexities of being human. The therapeutic space is where this is manifest.

What is considered to be "progress" depends on each person's desire and individual expectations. Sometimes it can be very quick, sometimes it takes more time.

Therapy has been a transformative process in my life, and has greatly informed my experience as a clinician.
