Philosophy & Vision

I'm a clinical counsellor and a family mediator, with extensive experience in relationship counselling and working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. I assist individuals, couples and families to attain a better understanding of themselves and develop new skills for solving problems and improving their relationships. My approach in divorce counselling is collaborative and holistic, by providing a gentler, more thoughtful process for separating couples.

Background

I have a broad and diversified career, all my jobs have always had a strong focus in helping people, and relationship building. I have held many senior management positions in the aviation and retail industry, and for nearly two decades in the human resources sector. However, the most satisfying job for me over the the last 14 years is working as a psychotherapist and a registered family dispute resolution practitioner. I find it's very rewarding when I can help clients to overcome their difficulties, make decisions that are right for them and move forward to a better future.

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, Walk and Talk Therapy, Coaching / Mentoring, Clinical Supervision, Online Video Consultations
  • My therapeutic style is open, gentle and respectful, yet direct. My clients come from all walks of life and especially from a culturally and linguistically diverse background. I have the ability to develop a strong, and trusting therapeutic relationship with clients. In all instances, integrity, creativity and empathy guide my work.

I assist clients identifying the underlying causes that can undermine their relationship issues, conflicts or their career progression; and develop skills to build their strengths and embark on a new path towards achieving their goals and fulfilling their dreams.

    Quality Provision

I have regular supervision, attend professional development workshops and further my own learning. I adhere to the codes of conduct of the Australian Counselling Association and the Mediation Institute.

    A conversation with Isabelle Truong

    • My professional and personal development have been influenced by the Buddhist's concept that nothing is fixed or permanent. Everything is subject to change and to cope with life challenges, we need to be flexible and be receptive to new ways of doing things.
    • I integrate various modalities to suit the clients' issues and needs. I apply various therapeutic methodologies such as Family Systems, Emotionally Focused, and Schema therapy to help you understand why you are triggered by certain interactions and how to change your maladaptive coping behaviours. We'll work together to bring out the best in you and become a happier person.
    • I feel very privileged to work alongside clients, who have the courage to seek help when facing with a myriad of difficulties in their lives. I feel honoured that they are willing to share their personal stories, and inner thoughts with me. Together I can help clients explore the maze of their mind, disentangle their emotions and discover negative patterns of behaviours that are holding them back from a brighter future. No other profession would offer this kind of exploration, reflection and humble satisfaction in watching people slowly unfold and heal themselves.
