I'm a clinical counsellor and a family mediator, with extensive experience in relationship counselling and working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. I assist individuals, couples and families to attain a better understanding of themselves and develop new skills for solving problems and improving their relationships. My approach in mediation is collaborative and holistic, by providing a gentler, more thoughtful process for divorcing couples.
My therapeutic style is open, gentle and respectful, yet direct. My clients come from all walks of life and especially from a culturally and linguistically diverse background. I have the ability to develop a strong, and trusting therapeutic relationship with clients. In all instances, integrity, creativity and empathy guide my work. I assist clients identifying the underlying causes that can undermine their relationship issues, conflicts or their career progression; and develop skills to build their strengths and embark on a new path towards achieving their goals and fulfilling their dreams.
Attachment Theory, CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Inner Child, Integrative, Internal Family Systems, Interpersonal, Marriage and Family, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic, Sandplay Therapy, Schema Therapy, Solution Oriented
I’m trained in a wide range of therapeutic modalities, however my theoretical orientation can be described as integrative and relational; I incorporate family system, cognitive behavioural, solution focused and emotional focused therapy in my work.
I have regular supervision, attend professional development workshops and further my own learning. I adhere to the codes of conduct of the Australian Counselling Association and the Mediation Institute.
I have a broad and diversified career, all my jobs have always had a strong focus in helping people, and relationship building. I have worked in many senior management positions in the aviation and retail industry, and for nearly two decades in the human resources sector. However the most satisfying job for me in the last 12 years is working as a psychotherapist and a registered family dispute resolution practitioner. It is very satisfying and rewarding, when I see my clients overcome their difficulties and move forward to a better future.
