Philosophy & Vision
I’m an experienced, registered psychologist and approach therapy from a trauma-informed and neuro-affirming lens. I aim to create a space that is down-to-earth, relaxed and non-judgemental to explore your concerns. I enjoy supporting adults experiencing ADHD, Autism, Trauma, Anxiety, Workplace Issues and Relationship Difficulties. I provide therapy modalities including EMDR, Schema Therapy, CPT, CBT and ACT.
Background
I have worked in private practice for the past 5 years. Prior to this, I worked as a Rehabilitation Counsellor (from 2015) in occupational rehabilitation and community service settings, supporting individuals and organisations with a range of issues. This included supporting the recovery of complex mental health issues, family violence, addiction, homelessness, disability, injury, trauma and individuals from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds. Since working in private practice, I have supported individuals with a range of issues including trauma, neurodiversity, pregnancy and postnatal concerns, anxiety, depression, workplace issues, body and eating concerns and relationship issues. I am also a Board-Approved Supervisor for psychologists

A conversation with Holly Monaghan
-
I grew up in a small, country town and have always enjoyed helping others and being involved in my local community. I initially started studying psychology in Year 10 and never looked back!

Humanistic and Client-centred approaches
-
I am most interested in the impact of environmental factors on the human journey (such as upbringing, relationships, socio-economic factors, systemic etc).
-
I use EMDR, Schema Therapy and other trauma-informed methods. But treatment is always tailored to the person and their specific needs.
-
I think progress can be made from the outset of therapy, but sometimes it’s only looking back that you can really notice how much progress you’ve made.
-
Therapy and supervision is integral as a psychologist for self-care and reflective practice.
-
I believe it’s a privilege to support and witness the change and growth that occurs during therapy.
