I chose Occupational therapy because I have always been interested in people and having a holistic framework in which to address people's psychological issues.
I have loved my career as I have had the opportunity to work with so many amazing people who have taught me so much about life, the universe and everything. -
Central to my work is that the client knows themselves better than I could ever do.
All experiences are valid and important, including the most difficult ones.
Healing is not only possible, but we are designed to heal, given the right conditions.
Death is a part of life.
Humanity is designed to evolve.
When people feel hopeless, they need hope held for them until they are ready.
Everybody is creative, it is our innate human gift.
We are Nature, not separate from it.
-
I am intrigued by human psychology and the holistic nature of our being.
I am interested in the transformative journey that changes people internally and how this projects into the world around them.
I have a particular interest in the way that traumatic events can shape our lives and the growth that can occur post-trauma.
Currently, I'm researching ways to access soul-level purpose and how to work beyond the logical mind.
I love working in collaboration with Nature and the Creative Arts.
I have recently trained in Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy and am really interested in how this ground-breaking field of treatment will evolve in Australia. -
I work with a range of methods(see profile information) to suit the person and where they are at.
Often, I start therapy by introducing a range of tools to assist the person in being better able to self-regulate and manage life stressors. I work at building a trusting and safe environment where the person can feel vulnerable, because I see this as critical to transformative change and healing.
I work at understanding the person's goals and what is of value to them in their lives, and support them to move toward the life they dream.
I have a structured approach that includes: a check-in, homework feedback, ongoing assessment, working with issues, highlighting 'take-aways' from the session, and agreeing on actioning tasks to attend to between sessions. -
This differs for everyone and is dependent on where the client is at, how supportive their environment is and how engaged people are in their healing journey. Therapy is a collaborative relationship where the therapist guides the person, and they need to do the work.
Saying that, most people who return to therapy are making progress, sometimes small shifts, sometimes monumental.
Participating in Therapy is a commitment to change, to knowing thyself and taking action to move toward the life you dream. -
It has shaped me and made me the excellent therapist I am today and a better person
It has allowed me to know myself better, trust my instincts and continue to learn, evolve and grow. -
It is such a privilege to accompany people on their journey of transformation. To witness their strength and resiliency, and to see them thrive after adversity.
I have such a juicy and fulfilling career, and I feel so grateful to be in this position. -
Doesn't everyone?
I have had shit times and wonderful times. I have encountered a plethora of experiences, and I have learnt to embrace them all, because the good, the bad and everything in between make us who we are. Our experiences shape us, and for that, I am grateful for even the most challenging things that have happened to me. -
Greed and disconnection.

I have just finished the 2024 Booker prize-winning novel 'Orbital' by Samantha Harvey. It is beautifully poetic, with a simple premise and wonderful insights into what it is to be human.
Last week, I saw the one-woman theatre production 'BATSHIT" by Leah Shelton, exploring women's mental health in a patriarchal culture. It was spot-on, moving, creative and fabulously performed.
Song...Agnes Obel-'The Curse', because it's gorgeous!
