Philosophy & Vision
Art therapy / Expressive therapy / Creative therapy is a form of psychotherapy where people are invited to use a variety of art, creative, playful media (drawing, painting, collage, clay, stories, fabrics, figurines, objects etc), to explore both verbally and non-verbally our issues, emotions and thoughts. No previous artistic experiences are necessary to benefit from this modality, just bring your curiosity and get ready to be surprised to see what you can create.
Background
15 yrs of work experiences with diverse community mental health sector
2 yrs in private practice NDIS participants, kids, adolescence, adults offering individual arts therapy an dyad arts therapy
7 yrs work experience with children/adolescence with emotional trauma
6 yrs experience working with women and children from various cultural backgrounds, affected by domestic violence. I have experienced art therapy practice with Individual, mother and child interactive session, group sessions and art projects. DV can bring up lots of issues such as trauma, depression, grief and loss, addictions, low-self esteem/worth, repressed anger/guilt etc.
1 year developing and co-facilitating a community support group in Redfern. Women's circle
