Philosophy & Vision

I see all of us as walking works of art in that we have so survived our particular childhood situations that the ways of being that we developed then are deeply ingrained into our unconscious dynamic.

As we grow older, many of us find that these behaviours are unsustainable, dysfunctional and limiting. We have emotional reactions to things that we don't understand, and we behave in relationships in ways that make us stuck and frustrated.

Background

I have been in private practice since 1996 and worked as a practice manager and University and secondary school teacher prior to that. I am also trained as a professional supervisor.

    Therapy Approach

My orientation is psychodynamic/psychoanalytical. This means it is depth work with unconscious material that is deeply buried and that with analysis can be brought out and understood. To do this I use dream work, unconscious association, analysis of dynamic structures in a persons life both inner and outer, leading to an understanding of the emotional processes that occur, and thus understanding the cognitive behaviours that are operational as a result of these inner unconscious dynamics.
