Philosophy & Vision

I believe in a warm, creative and multisensory approach to therapy – one that welcomes curiosity, the known and unknown, the verbal and non-verbal. By blending arts-based and body-based practices, you have the freedom to express your various ways of being and knowing, giving voice to internal states. Through making, sensing, moving, playing, drawing and chatting, we explore, unpack and reconfigure the stuff that matters to you. Listening closely to what arises, we give space, find pathways and generate strategies to support your agency in your health.

This is somatic, creative, educational psychotherapy for adults and young people seeking:
*Support with stress, anxiety, overwhelm, fatigue, chronic pain or disconnection
*An alternative therapeutic approach to explore physical, emotional and behavioural patterns
*Understanding & support for neurodivergence through embodied and multi-sensory practice

Background

I’m a therapist, educator & movement/sonic artist specialising in somatics & creative practices. I synthesise a Masters in Creative Arts Therapy with a Somatic Movement Educator (Body-Mind Centering®) certification & several decades of research, performance & teaching in movement/dance practices, yoga, improvisation, story-telling & sound design. I’ve been in private practice since 2008, I’m Co-Director of Melbourne-based educational therapeutics provider Live Particle, I dance with improvisation duo LIPS and have published work on creativity, embodiment & education. In 2014, I founded pioneering Melbourne-based yoga & movement studio, The Yoga Lab. My early career was as an Arts Journalist & Documentary Maker for Radio New Zealand.

    Therapy Approach

Wayfinding sessions are relational and emergent - attending to what’s live in the moment while staying closely aligned to personal experience and goals. We might use tactile objects, movement & somatic inquiry, creative arts practices, play-based activities, breath work, meditation, music and reflective dialogue to investigate personal narrative, emotions and physical/behavioural patterns. This multimodal practice enables key content to be sensed, felt, known and potentially transformed. Through our collaborative conversation we compile a dynamic creative language and a collection of practices that speak to you, your life and your experience. A ‘toolkit’ emerges to support your self-understanding, wellbeing, resilience and positive change.
