It is important to me that I build a professional and strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. That during therapy that I utilise a wide range of treatment interventions available to me due to my post graduate training. Involving my clients in decisions concerning the treatment they wish to receive and the formation of their therapy goals is also important to me. Lastly, when working with children and individuals diagnosed with a disability working creatively is essential.
My therapy services involve psychotherapy, counselling and expressive therapy such as art and music therapy. Therapy services are provided for individuals, i.e. children, youth and adults. For fifteen years I have specialised in counselling children and youth.
Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gestalt, Interpersonal, Mindfulness, Music Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Person Centred, Play Therapy, Psychodynamic, Sand Tray
Whilst my approach involves working creatively with a client to meet their therapy goals the client has the right to choose whether or not he or she engages in expressive therapy during the session. No skills or experience are required of the client to create music or art. Each and every counselling session involves traditional counselling techniques and interventions also. For this reason a wide range of approaches are used such as interpersonal therapy, mindfulness, narrative and gestalt therapy. Fostering a working alliance with my clients is important to me, as is the strength of the therapeutic relationship, clients comment that they build rapport with me easily and feel very comfortable during sessions.
