Dream Work, Existential, Freudian, Interpersonal, Jungian, Mindfulness, Object Relations, Psychoanalytic, Psychodynamic, Self Psychology
My approach to psychotherapy is based on psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, which means I try to help you make sense of your experience, understand repetitive patterns in your life, find meaning, and feel better. I am influenced by both traditional and contemporary psychoanalytic theory including: Object Relations, Jungian and Post-Jungian Analytical Psychology, Self-Psychology, and Intersubjectivity Theory. I also have a strong interest in psychotherapy integration. I try to work collaboratively and empathically with patients to find an evidence-based approach that works best for you. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Mindfulness-based strategies into my clinical work.
I am a fully registered psychologist and a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) with over 15 years of experience. In order to provide you with the best possible service and care, I undergo regular professional supervision and engage in constant professional development in evidence-based psychological therapies. This is done via training seminars, workshops, and clinical supervision as recommended by The Australian Psychological Society (APS).
I am a fully registered psychologist with over 15 years of experience in a variety of settings such as inpatient psychiatric wards, university clinics, community organisations, teaching psychology students in a university, and private practice with a range of issues including: drug and alcohol problems, mood disorders, psychological trauma, sexual difficulties, anxiety disorders, stress management, spiritual/life meaning, men's issues, psychosomatic difficulties, coping with physical illness, family conflict, and parenting problems.
