Philosophy & Vision

Sometimes, something seemingly small that happens today, a tone of voice, a phrase, a look can trigger a deep emotional response that feels far bigger than the moment itself. This isn’t because you’re overreacting. It’s because, the body and mind respond as if the past traumatic event is happening again, right now. In our work together, I don’t treat this as irrational, but as meaningful. In therapy together, I understand trauma isn’t just a memory stored in the brain. It’s something that lives in language, in the body, and in the unconscious, often without clear words or explanations.

We gently make room for the different fragments of your experience. You don’t need to know what to say or have it figured out. Therapy begins when you speak freely, without pressure and I listen. Together, we begin to locate what has been hard to represent, name, or understand.

Background

I have over 15 years experience working in clinical and professional settings. I have a broad and diverse clinical interest and life experience. I am a full member of the Australian Psychological Society. I offer treatment to children, adolescents and adults.

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy, Psychoanalysis, Home Visits, Clinical Supervision, Phone Consultations, Online Video Consultations
  • People come initially with many diverse issues and bring whatever concern with themselves to their sessions. We have some sessions initially to talk. It is impossible to say on the outset what the treatment is going to be, or how we might work together without us talking first. There is no manual or one size fits all. The difference is made in the sessions after some time when you talk and I listen very carefully. People I treat express a desire to take ownership over some matter, that has occupied their mind for some time. This is something that becomes pressing for someone, something that repeats in the person’s life. This may be problematic or painful but not accessible to the person for many reasons.

    Quality Provision

Becoming a psychoanalyst has required a serious commitment to ongoing supervision and many years of intensive and rigorous personal analysis with my own psychoanalyst and working with colleagues on clinical material.

    Therapy Approach

Psychoanalytic therapy / psychoanalysis works with developing an understanding of the person and the contributions of their history in the present time. The psychoanalyst or therapist who has had his or her own psychoanalysis directs the treatment by listening and working with the person to work through the issues that present in the therapeutic relationship or in the transference.
