Philosophy & Vision
I believe that everyone holds their own deep wisdom - but sometimes life makes it hard to access.
As a process-oriented therapist, I’ll support you to understand what’s going on for you and explore challenges on different levels: the day-to-day struggles, and what’s happening beneath the surface of your experiences and relationships.
Using creative and body-based approaches, we’ll tune into signals from your body, emotions, and relationships to uncover what needs care and what’s ready to grow. We’ll work with what’s causing pain, while also gently listening for new insights. I’m a trauma- and diversity-friendly therapist, here to help you connect with your own direction and create a path that truly fits. Our work can support you to feel more at ease in your body, clearer in yourself, and more alive in your relationships and everyday life.
Background
I began my career in the arts working with marginalised communities, and was originally drawn to Process Oriented Psychology because of its inclusion of the body, creativity and social power awareness. My background gave me the immense privilege of hearing stories behind people’s lives and a profound respect for personal power and resilience. I have worked in the mental health field for 20 years and now teach Process Work to others. I bring a broad range of approaches to my work as a psychotherapist, drawn from past and continuing work with communities (homelessness/ housing, First Nations) as a group facilitator and trainer in conflict transformation/ facilitation & Process Work. I'm also influenced by the Internal family systems modality.
Services
My services include individual psychotherapy and coaching, as well as group facilitation training and consultancy. I also co-facilitate 'Everyday Process' - a process work practice group in Newcastle NSW, and offer Process work Supervision for therapists and students.
Quality Provision
Trained at the highest level in Process Oriented Psychology, on the teaching faculty of Australia New Zealand Process Oriented Psychology, a member of the International Association of Process Oriented Psychology. Registered with PACFA undertaking ongoing regular supervision and professional development.

Therapy Approach
Process Oriented Psychology (Process Work) is awareness based – following signals in the body, communication, dreams, movements and relationships. These signals are pointers – and when unfolded with curiosity they can reveal what is getting in the way and why, as well as what is trying to come forward for you. With this knowledge, you can make decisions from a more congruent place, aligning yourself with your own natural way of being. My approach is also informed by Internal Family Systems which shares Process Work’s appreciation of our diverse inner parts – that we are all more than any one thing, and when we can get to know these, and how they came to be, we can better understand behaviour, release past blocks and feel more free.

Part of what I do is to support the client to build awareness of their own signals. This helps determine when things are on track, or not, and assists a client to notice, and experience, progress. The client’s own signals are the ultimate guide, so that is different for each person.

It has changed my life. One of the particular aspects about Process Work diplomate training is that it is very rigorous about working on yourself - you get assessed on it, and it has a really high number of therapy hours you yourself need to undertake as a client. Because of that training, I can embrace and accept different parts of myself and more than that, use them when I need. I know deeply that I am resourced enough to be able to face and work through what comes in life, regardless of how challenging it is, which brings with it a kind of freedom and trust.

Aha - this one is easy! Witnessing and experiencing transformation and people being in touch with their unique personal strengths. It brings me joy and is such a privilege.

Of course (have you seen my unruly hair?).
And even though it's frustrating, I'd be concerned if I didn't. Life circumstances are not able to always be controlled. Bad hair days happen, and so do good hair days. Nature is a good guide here - sometimes its rainy, sometimes its sunny, and the key is to be able to notice and be with whatever presents.
