Somatic Psychotherapist

Anne de Silva

If you’re wondering if there’s more to healing than just talking about problems, welcome to body-mind therapy. A somatic approach satisfies our deep curiosity about the connection between mind and body, by actively tapping into our whole being to ease suffering and build resilience. When we invite all of ourselves to show up and heal in a safe space, our strength and capacity for joy expand. I’d love to support you in this powerful, yet very gentle way.

Healing happens when we realise that something else is possible - when we experience what we longed for but had felt was missing. In sessions, we often work in the present moment to explore the ways you move through life on autopilot, and increase awareness and spaciousness, so that you can directly experience yourself, a situation or others in a new way.

In this way, we work together to unblock stuck patterns, increase intuitive clarity, reduce tension, and connect you with a calm, stable, embodied state as an inner resource you can call on whenever needed. In sessions you can expect deep respect, authenticity, spaciousness, compassion, choice and an absence of force.

A lifelong learner, I’m constantly exploring a new modality or expanding my knowledge. Whether through a hands-on workshop or reading up on a theoretical approach, I try something new out and then bring it to sessions if it serves you. Right now I feel drawn to body-based trauma therapies that work with the nervous system, spontaneous movement and narrative approaches.

I regularly consult with an experienced supervisor to keep me on track and maintain and increase therapeutic effectiveness.

Since starting my own healing journey at the tender age of 21, the joys and challenges of family, loss, work and relationship have been my training ground. I am strongly influenced by my professional training in Hakomi mindful somatic psychotherapy and have dived into movement practice, conscious parenting, experiential and play-based learning, mindful sexuality and somatic meditation. I work with individuals and groups in a trauma-informed way.
