Philosophy & Vision

If you're wondering if there's more to healing than just talking about problems, welcome to somatic psychotherapy. A somatic approach satisfies our deep curiosity about the connection between mind, body and beyond, by actively tapping into our whole being to ease suffering, renegotiate trauma and build resilience. When we invite all of ourselves to show up and heal in a safe space, our strengths and capacity for joy expand.

I'd love to support you in this powerful and gentle way.

Background

Since starting my own healing journey as a young adult, the joys and challenges of family, loss, trauma, work and relationship are my practice ground.

I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner as well as a graduate of the Hakomi mindful somatic psychotherapy and NeuroAffective Touch professional trainings. I have explored and am influenced by conscious parenting, experiential and play-based learning, mindful sexuality, movement practices and somatic meditation.

My trauma-conscious work with individuals and groups supports the processing and renegotiation of childhood, adult and early prenatal, birth and perinatal trauma.

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy, Workshops / Courses, Phone Consultations, Online Video Consultations
  • Online (video or voice) and telephone sessions available.
In person sessions are in a peaceful sanctuary room, large enough to allow for physical distancing.

You may find sessions helpful if:
    - You've been impacted by a big change, event or loss
    - A pattern in your relationships isn't working
    - You feel a sense of emptiness or lack of connection
    - You're exhausted and over-committed
    - You're reactive and easily set off
    - You're at a turning point
    - You're navigating a mid-life transition
    - You've reached an end-point with your current (non-somatic) therapy

    Quality Provision

I am constantly exploring new modalities or expanding my knowledge through lived experience, theoretical understanding and experiential learning. I then bring this to sessions, if it serves you.

My approach to healing is biopsychosocial and I bring a narrative lens to our work.

I regularly consult with experienced supervisors to keep me on track and to maintain and increase therapeutic effectiveness.

    Therapy Approach

Healing happens when we realise that something else is possible - when we experience what we longed for but was missing when we needed it. In sessions, we often work in the present moment to explore the ways you move through life on autopilot, and increase awareness and spaciousness, so that you can directly experience yourself, your body, your strengths, a situation, or others in a new way.

We work together to unblock stuck patterns, renegotiate trauma, increase intuitive clarity, reduce tension, and connect you with a calm, stable, embodied state as an inner resource you can call on whenever needed. In sessions you can expect deep respect, authenticity, spaciousness, compassion, choice and an absence of force.
