Philosophy & Vision

Therapy provides a unique opportunity to connect with your true self, and process emotional experiences which block your vitality. I offer a space where we can get to the root of things not working for you, and gradually untangle the relational dynamics keeping you stuck.

The couples I work with want to create authentic, deep and meaningful connection with each other. Sometimes they have experienced a crisis that has rocked the relationship to its core. Other times, the lack of intimacy (physical, emotional, spiritual) or a growing awareness of distance, brings a couple to see me.

The individuals I work with want to understand their inner world and their relationships better, and stop repeating patterns which don't serve them. They may experience chronic anxiety and depression, and short-term therapies (e.g. CBT, ACT) haven't eased these experiences. They're ready to dive deep and commit to their well-being.

Background

Prior to starting private practice, I worked at various government and non-government organisations, as well as part of group psychology practice.

Services

  • Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy, Clinical Supervision, Online Video Consultations
  • Individual therapy - I have a 3 session therapeutic assessment phase, during which we get to know each other and I'll share my impressions of your situation (e.g. symptom origin). At the end of this process, we will talk about whether to commence therapy and what this might look like.

Couple therapy - I have a 5 session therapeutic assessment phase. The first 2 sessions occur together, the next two are individual, and the final is together again. I will share my impressions on what is happening within the couple to contribute to the difficulties, and how I can help moving forward.

I offer a brief phone call prior to booking the first appointment where you can share a little about your situation, ask questions, and hear about how I work.

    Quality Provision

I believe that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated.
I believe that therapy works when both of us are committed to your healing.
I believe that change is possible when you allow yourself the space to do the work.

    Therapy Approach

I’m a Clinical Psychologist with a focus on relational psychodynamic psychotherapy. This therapeutic approach offers a way of understanding you, your relationships, and the meaning you make of the world at a deep level.

Emotional distress (including symptoms such as anxiety and depression) is often rooted in patterns of relational experience, past and present, which have the power to demean and deaden the self. Unconsciously, you carry these experiences with you.

Psychodynamic therapy provides a space where these can be brought into consciousness and their emotional and physical impact can be unpacked and made sense of. This process gradually allows shifts to occur in your life and relationships.
