Amanda understands that often issues tend to be painful, limiting and disturbing both to ourselves and to others. Specialising in teenagers and adults, she uses a combination of psychotherapy & counselling to gain a deeper insight into the emotional issues and conflicts that may be underlying the current difficulties. Amanda supports you in identifying ways to overcome them while strengthening relationships. Her expertise lies in complex adolescent issues, working with the individual & family.
Amanda has an interest in working with pre-teens, adolescents, their parents and adult individuals living with mental health issues. Amanda develops an excellent rapport with young people and adult individuals quickly, providing a safe and confidential space to talk openly. She quickly identifies and captures patterns of behaviour that are impacting on your relationships; personally and professionally.

Amanda works psychodynamically and holistically with clients who are experiencing a broad range of issues including those that come up again and again, presenting as a recurring patter or theme. Providing a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space to openly discuss concerns while offering hope for change is of the utmost importance to her. She listens attentively and guides you to better understand your thoughts and feelings, often shining a light on unconscious thoughts and processes. Amanda utilises somatic psychotherapy whereby Soma is a greek word that means 'the living body' and encourages increased awareness and understanding of the emotional energy and the 'felt experience' when discussing issues that are difficult and painful.
Amanda has a Masters of Counselling & Psychotherapy (ECU) and more than 15 years as a high school teacher working with adolescents and their families. She has extensive experience working internationally within educational, health and welfare sectors.
Amanda specialises in complex adolescent issues such as personality disorders, risk taking behaviour, anxiety & depression, self-harm & suicidal ideation.
