Philosophy & Vision

Welcome! I am a Registered Clinical Psychotherapist & Counsellor with over 30yrs of clinical experience. My expertise lies in working with the impact of trauma in adulthood, childhood trauma & neglect, single event trauma & PTSD, and attachment trauma. I offer individual psychotherapy & counselling sessions to adults, clinical supervision to practitioners, and the facilitation of groups & individual sessions for those wanting to practice yoga in a trauma-informed capacity.

Background

I have been working as a psychotherapist & counsellor for over 30yrs in a variety of government agencies (sexual assault service, rape crisis service, victims of crime support service, women's health service, early parenting counselling service) and private practice (11yrs in Sydney & 6yrs in Canberra). I have specialised in working with complex trauma, trauma in adulthood (domestic violence, coercive control in relationships, sexual assault), single event trauma (eg. birth trauma, crime related trauma) & PTSD. I have completed training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Self-Psychology all of which support my deep understanding of the impact of trauma and offer effective ways to manage and transform the same.

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy, Clinical Supervision, Online Video Consultations
  • I offer both face-to-face appointments and online (video) appointments, or a combination of the same to be able to support your changing needs or circumstances.

    Quality Provision

I am registered with PACFA (The Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia) and ANZAP (The Australia & New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy). After completing a BAppSc in Occupational Therapy I obtained a Masters in Peace Studies (majoring in Women's Studies). My training in Self-Psychology with ANZAP has subsequently led to comprehensive trainings in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with the SP Institute in Colorado/USA, and Internal Family Systems with the IFS Institute in Boston/USA.

    Therapy Approach

Psychotherapy and counselling can be powerful tools to help you develop an understanding of yourself (behavioural & thought patterns, perspectives & emotional charge), gain confidence and consider more fulfilling ways of moving through the world.

I foster a collaborative approach to my work with clients in their discovery of the origins of current challenges so that personal growth may unfold with lasting change. I offer the foundations of a safe, supportive and confidential environment from which the seeds of such transformation may take hold.

My work is underpinned by the application of the principles of mindful presence, interconnectedness, curiosity and a belief in the inherent intelligence of every living system to evolve.
