Philosophy & Vision

I believe counselling should feel supportive, collaborative, and free from judgement. My approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, and neuro-affirming, with a focus on creating a space where clients feel heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves.

I work with adult and teen clients from a range of backgrounds, including both neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals. I have a particular interest in supporting adults navigating late diagnosis ADHD, burnout, emotional overwhelm, anxiety, self-esteem difficulties, stress, trauma, grief, and life transitions.

I understand that no two people experience life in the same way, and I aim to tailor counselling to each individual’s needs and goals. Alongside in-room and online counselling, I also offer walk-and-talk therapy options for clients who feel more comfortable in a relaxed outdoor setting.

Background

Before establishing Empowering You Counselling, Katrina ran her own business in a different field, gaining valuable experience in working closely with people, building trust, and supporting clients through a service-based role. She later transitioned into counselling following her studies, bringing with her strong interpersonal skills and a grounded, client-focused approach.

Since moving into private practice, Katrina has worked with clients across a range of concerns including anxiety, stress, burnout, grief, trauma, and self-esteem difficulties. She has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients, including those with late diagnosis ADHD, as well as neurotypical clients seeking deep self-understanding & emotional wellness.

Katrina’s approach is gentle, collaborative, and paced by the client. Sessions are not rigid, rather guided by the client. There is an emphasis on safety, choice, and autonomy, with space for clients to decide what they want to focus on each session.
