Julian Cerreto Counselling and Psychotherapy

Mobile 0413 750 144

I am an integrative psychotherapist. This means I draw on a number of different models of psychotherapy to create an individualised approach for everyone I see. My work is based on a strong, collaborative therapeutic relationship. I often include somatic, breathe, and mindfulness based approaches, especially when working with anxiety or fear. I am also inspired by psychoanalysis for it's rigorous approach to self knowledge and the human unconscious.

    10 Questions with Julian Cerreto

    • What led you to choose psychotherapy or counselling as a profession?

    • Psychotherapy is as much a vocation as a profession, and so my development as a therapist goes back as far as I can remember.

I became a mental health professional after studying community services. I was very interested in social justice, being part of campaigns for refugee rights and other similar causes. My aim then was to help very disadvantaged people and to work against systemic oppression.

My personal and professional experiences during this time convinced me of the value of turning inwards. These experiences included having my own psychotherapy as well as, in my work, noticing that a deep, reflective conversation could change the way a person experienced themselves and the world around them. This was true even when people were dealing with severe mental illness or serious disadvantage.

I work with individuals and couples to understand and resolve issues in their lives.

No matter what you're going through, having some time and space to reflect will draw out greater self knowledge and move you towards a sense of mastery and fulfilment.

In this way, the problems you bring to therapy become the material you use to build a richer, more authentic way of living or a deeper, more loving relationship....
