Philosophy & Vision

Engaging on any level with therapy is essentially looking into yourself. It is rewarding, difficult, and one of the bravest things you can do. But you are not alone.
I provide a safe and nurturing counselling and psychotherapy service, built on compassion and respect. Humility, and a non-judgmental approach are vital ingredients to my service. I enjoy working with people and helping them to resolve issues caused by overwhelming experience

Background

My experience includes working with agencies such as the Black Dog Institute and ASCA (Adults Surviving Child Abuse), working in the Wesley Eating Disorder Center, ACON (Aids Council of NSW), and The Wayside Chapel. I worked as the family therapist in South Pacific Private. I am constantly fine tuning and updating my skills, like learning Psychodietetics (The Psychology & Sabotage of Weight Loss by Dr George Blair-West). I am qualified in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing plus Brainspotting. I am qualified in The Daring Way™ Facilitator method which based on Brené Brown's research. Recently I added the Adult Attachment Interview to my services.

Services

  • Counselling, Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy, Assessment, Coaching / Mentoring, Workshops / Courses, Educational Resources, Clinical Supervision, Phone Consultations, Online Video Consultations
  • I like working from a holistic client centered approach. I am interested in the body-mind connection, helping my clients to free themselves and live a healthy, meaningful, whole life.

    Quality Provision

I am a Clinical Member of PACFA. Member of EMDRAA and ANZAP. I constantly look for new ways to enhance my skills and knowledge so I can serve my clients best. I attend professional development seminars and regularly have professional supervision as well. To be at my best, I look after myself physically, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually.

    A conversation with Andrea Szasz

    • The term Brave Therapy is in honor of the bravery of my clients; the courage they have shown to change their lives is truly inspirational.

I've been a therapist for 10 + years helping hundreds of people to change their lives for the better. I specialize in the treatment of underlying trauma, and been personally involved with people who have suffered intensely. I have undergone my own personal therapy. I understand what it feels like when life is unmanageable. My own experiences have fuelled my passion to find the best treatments possible for my clients.

The counselling techniques used in Brave Therapy have emerged from 21st Century science, concentrating on fields that explore the connections between body, mind, brain and soul.
