Philosophy & Vision
Sometimes in life we get stuck or come to realise that our lives, our relationships with others or our ways of dealing with these are not going in the direction that we would like them to.
I see my role as helping and supporting people including adults, children, young people and families, to access and strengthen their own values, insights and resources so that they can move through these 'stuck points' and towards more satisfying lives and relationships.
Background
I have worked for many years in health, community and education settings, e.g. Queensland Department of Education, Child and Youth Mental Health, child and family counselling services, domestic violence counselling and sexual assault support. Since 2011, I have taught and supervised psychology at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), across both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. I have experience working with issues including trauma and abuse, separation/divorce, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, and developmental issues. I have also travelled and lived overseas, giving insight into the challenges of adjusting to new places, or fitting back into 'old ones'.
Services
I offer individual and family therapy to clients of all ages, including children and young people. I aim to provide a comfortable and safe environment for clients to explore the parts of themselves that they may not often bring into the light. From there we can work together using an integrative approach that draws on various therapeutic approaches (e.g. Narrative, CBT, ACT, family therapy) to help the client move closer psychologically and behaviourally to where they would like to be in life.
I also provide professional supervision to individuals and groups. As an accredited supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia I am able to supervise both provisional psychologists and those seeking endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.
Quality Provision
I am committed to providing high quality psychological service and as a registered psychologist I am accountable to the Australian Psychological Society's Code of Ethics regarding my practice and conduct. I engage regularly in professional training and development to keep my skills current and relevant and I receive ongoing clinical supervision.
